fleece analyses
uncategorized - Thursday 5th of February 2009 08:51 AM

A few weeks ago, I sampled all my coming 2-year olds at mid-side and these are the results:

GnuHampshire Polly Wolly afd 27.8 sd 8.5  dark-sided black gulmoget

Locksfield Burgundy afd 31.0 sd 7.2 spotted moorit

Minwawe A La Mode afd 27.2 sd 9.4  spotted Ag gray

Minwawe Shortcake afd 25.7 sd 7.7  lustrous  black yuglet flecket

Star Grazers Glory afd 32.5 sd 8.4  lustrous spotted black, little sunbleaching

Star Grazers Scarlett afd 29.9 sd 10.0 spotted black

Twin Springs Hope II afd 26.0 sd 8.2  incomplete caped flecket

I expected Scarlett, Burgundy, Shortcake and Hope to be more coarse, and Glory to be less coarse. I am glad I started doing fleece analyses, as I am getting some real surprises (Glory was a  huge surprise!)

Next week I will sample the coming yearlings, and post those when available.

paying it forward, after the ice storm

Michelle McMillen of Boulderneigh had a really great idea on her blog, and I want to participate. The premise is that the first few responders, (I will limit it to 3,) get a hand made gift from me. The catch is that they must post the same offer on their blog.

This offer does have some restrictions and limitations; I do not guarantee you will like what I make, I won't give you any clues what it may be, and it will be done by the end of the year (another small change I made).

I was supposed to post this offer last week, but an ice storm moved in on Monday, and the cloud cover cuts off my satellite internet connection, and we lost electricity Wednesday and only recovered it late Saturday. However, we were absolutely swamped at work, until my string of shifts ended Monday. The internet connection remains spotty, so I am blogging at work today. Hopefully, the weather will warm up to 50 degrees as predicted today and the ice on my hilly driveway will melt enough to let me drive all the way to the house tonight!

If you respond to this offer, please include your email address in your response, so I can discover your favorite colors and interests.
